i'm addicted to random oc generators...
like.. creating them.
Last month I came across a character generator on Instagram, by a user named @kiriiko.art. It’s a video that shows you each part of a character individually with random options at a fast frame rate. You then pause on each part to receive your random OC1 feature. This could be the skin color, the eyes, hair, clothes and other items.
So I watched the video and paused to acquire each part. I took a screenshot of each result so I could reference it when it came time to draw.

Although, when it came time to actually draw my newly acquired pieced up character, I thought…
What if i create my own generator instead?
I love drawing, but i don’t like coloring and if i make a generator, I dont have to color!
My mind was blown!
I was so excited i stopped sketching my Frankenstein design and began creating my very first OC Pause Challenge (as they call it on YouTube).
I decided my first theme would be cottagecore. This meant comfy outfits, earthy colors and cute hairstyles. I had a lot of fun drawing the designs, i dragged em over to Final Cut Pro and completed my first character generator.
I enjoyed it so much, i quickly started on my next theme. Since i wanted to keep my YouTube channel art AND video games, I decided to use Genshin Impact as my inspiration. This time i looked up different Genshin characters as reference for hairstyles, eye styles and color palettes. Then for the outfits and weapons, I searched up fantasy references and applied my own twist to them.
Now, when you think of Hoyoverse character skin colors… theres not a lot of options. Its usually white, pale white, lightly tanned, and maybe a tan thrown in to appease the tan peeps like me. I did contemplate this when selecting the skin colors i wanted to use, but this is a random OC generator! It’s supposed to be Original, so I threw in a few more darker tan colors because, why not?
At this point, i was addicted, i started creating lists of different themes and games i could create generators for and started on my next video. I’ve created a lot of work for myself, but it’s the perfect time for OC pause challenges because Art Fight is right around the corner!
So, if you need help creating OC’s for Art Fight, here's the menu my dear, take a gander, select the one that interests you the most! I’ll be adding more as the days go by.
If you have any generator theme ideas you’d like to see, please share! These have been so fun to create and I want to keep going!
