Holy crap, this was incredible and I totally get this feel. My cozy game is Metal Gear Solid 2. When my nevous system gets overloaded or my mental health is trash, this is the game that I can sit down with and be fine playing, like I'm in a big ol' blanket.

Thank you so much! Its good to hear you have MGS2 to go to when u feel overloaded! I love hearing about others uncommon cozy games.

It makes me happy knowing a game doesnt have to be from the cozy genre to bring comfort and peace.✨️

I appreciated your article. Quest first, then fish. Very cozy vibes.

One of my go-to cozy games is Stardew Valley. There’s just something grounding about tending crops ,checking in on the villagers, and clearing the dungeon of slimes. Afterwards, I usually reel in a few fish and call it a day. The grind, and then relax contrast keeps me coming back for more!

I’ve just started a newsletter that explores cozy gaming, what that can look like, and the life lessons we can pull from those gaming experiences. It’s nice to see there are others on here who appreciate cozy gaming!

I agree cozy can mean diferent things for everyone, to me with auDHD it dosnt HAVE to be a low action game where you are just chilling,it can also be a cup of coffee some snacks and then star citizen (for example)

Exactly! 💖

I feel ya!

For me, there's a distinction between what cozy games are considered, and what an individual game finds cozy. I don't think cozy is subjective as a genre, but I think what a person finds cozy is subjective.

Id have to agree with u about cozy nit being subjective as a genre after reading this:

I guess i never really wanted to see cozy as a genre but i can still call my comfort games cozy 💖

Congratulations on your first post Leefa, I am so happy for you!

I agree that 'cozy' can be different for everyone - it is how it makes you feel. Rarely are games ever neatly categorised, or those categories themselves defined. Some prefer horror games to unwind and escape.

I did enjoy watching the accessibility showcase during the game fest this year, and seeing the ways in which people were bringing calm though, to those who experience life differently. I agree, I felt the 'cozy' community were all wonderful.

However, like you and your tedious findings of the apples and the trees, I did find animal crossing a tad repetitive and grindy. Nevertheless some enjoy repetitiveness and perhaps more casual gaming. I do during times when I need to not think!

Thank you! And yes repetitive tasks can be calming, which is why i think fishing is so lovely to me. Its great seeing what brings joy to each of us and that more people are able to experience games in a way that is comfortable for them!

Beautifully said!
